Sealed Bids for the construction of Water System Improvements 2018 will be received, by the City of Almena, Kansas, addressed as follows:  Catherine Rivera, City Clerk, 415 Main St., Almena, KS 67622 or City of Almena, PO Box 277, Almena, KS 67622-0277 until 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 25, 2018, Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud immediately after the specified closing time in the City Hall, 415 Main St., Almena, KS. Bids received after this time will not be accepted.  Bids will be received for a single prime Contract.  Bids shall be on a lump sum and unit price basis.

Work consists of: Replacement of existing water distribution lines along Mills Avenue, Van Horn Street, Pratt Avenue and Brooks Street, including 7250 l.f. of 6” PVC waterline, 6” bore, fire hydrants, valves and AMR meter replacements; AMR system hardware and software. North Ground Storage Tank improvements including painting inside and outside of tank, and base repair. Generator installation at south well field, and at chlorine building. Telemetry system upgrade, paving, project sign, erosion control, traffic control, and miscellaneous appurtenances. North Well House improvements including 4” meter replacement, blocking door opening, painting wall and appurtenances. Chlorine Building improvements including 8” meter replacement, chlorination feed upgrade and appurtenances. Alternate No. 1: South Well Field Improvements: Including 6” meter with insulation replacement, carport installation, fence improvements, 8” thick concrete pad and appurtenances.  Alternate No. 2: South Well Field Improvements: Replaces concrete pad from Alternate No. 1 with 4” gravel surfacing, eliminates carport from Alternate No. 1 and replaces 6” meter and insulation as shown on Drawings.
