Services Provided- Airport Improvement Planning
The project consisted of the full reconstruction of the General Aviation Apron and associated taxilanes at the Cimarron Municipal Airport in Cimarron, Kansas, including pavement areas surrounding all hangars. EBH Engineering provided design and construction services spanning initial coordination through project closeout. Early phases included consultation with utility providers and the local FAA field office to communicate project intent and ensure regulatory alignment. Detailed field surveys were conducted to locate existing utilities, structures, and facilities within the project limits, forming the basis for accurate design. EBH also performed pavement, base, and subbase testing, along with geotechnical exploration, to evaluate existing conditions and determine appropriate pavement design alternatives in accordance with FAA standards.
Throughout the design process, EBH assisted the Cimarron Airport with all FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP) documentation, including required forms, reports, and grant-related submissions. Complete working drawings and specifications were prepared in compliance with FAA grant requirements. Final plans and specifications were subsequently refined and submitted for FAA approval, accompanied by updated cost opinions and a Construction Observation Program.
EBH oversaw the bidding process for construction and assisted Cimarron Airport with evaluating bids and awarding the construction contract. Construction engineering services included conducting the preconstruction conference, reviewing contractor submittals, defining project limits, providing construction staking, and performing all required field and materials testing. At project completion, as‑constructed drawings were delivered to the Cimarron Airport and FAA, including updates to the Airport Layout Plan.
