Rush Center Wastewater Treatment Improvements 2013
EBH worked with the City of Rush Center to apply for CDBG and Rural Development grants to keep sewer rates manageable. EBH designed an unlined holding pond to reduce costs and keep the facility from discharging. With a depth of nearly thirty feet, EBH worked with Smith & Loveless to design a recessed wetwell-mounted pump station. The contractor replaced the mechanical plant and pump station with a lagoon system, new pump station, and forcemain. A unique aspect to this project was boring under a highway and a railroad.

EBH worked with the City of Rush Center Replaced the mechanical plant and pump station with a lagoon system, new pump station, and forcemain. Since the system is designed to be non-discharging, the two primary treatment cells are followed by a “Treated Effluent Holding Pond” to allow for additional evaporation and seepage. Design included:
- Approximately 7,000 feet of 4” force main
- New pump station, alarm system, and standby generator
- Bore under Highway 96 and K&O Railroad
- USDA
- CDBG
